I noticed that sampleRelationshipID is wrongly reported as integer instead of varchar in the ERD.
In this table for relationshipID, in the dictionary here are the follwing possibilities: child, colocated, fieldReplicate, msd, labDuplicate, lcsd while in the documentation it is mention that only child or replicate is possible.
Finally does colocated means two samples or more taken at the same time at the same site (with the same method)?
sampleRelationshipsID is actually an integer - or certainly can be. This field is just a provisional ID to create a random and unique PK for each row of the sample relationships table. The actual relationship is recorded in the relationshipID field. We may change the data type to archer in version 2.3, though, to increase the possibility of unique codes for this field.
Thank you for pointing this out! I think that our dictionary is expanding more quickly than the documentation. I’ll make a point to update this part of the documentation soon. I might need to circle back to you on this question.
Great questions, and apologies for not being more clear in the description of the “co-located” option. That will be updated for our next release. But a co-located sample is defined as a second or multiple sample(s) collected at or near (one-half to three feet away) the same selected sample location to determine local variability of a given analyte. Analytical results from co-located samples can be used to assess site variation, but only in the immediate sampling area. Samples at the same location but using different media (i.e. water and air samples, soil and sediment samples) are also classified as co-located samples. Two or more samples taken at the same time and the same site with the same method would be a field replicate, I believe. Does that follow the same terms and definitions you are using?
Thank you again, and please let me know if there are any follow up questions or issues.
