# Minimum reporting

I am starting a discussion on required, minimum or mandatory fields, in case this is a topic of interest for others.

I reminded myself of a paper from a US-based workshop discussing the topic. See [paper](https://pubs.rsc.org/en/content/articlehtml/2021/ew/d1ew00235j). The emphasis struck me on methods.

Currently, the ODM has mandatory fields but does not suggest specific attributes, measures or method steps that should be reported. Adding minimum metrics could be added to sets. What about adding a minimum report set from the paper referenced above?

I’ll bring this up at our meeting with the larger group tomorrow and see what they think of this idea. I think saying anything is “mandatory” is difficult, but we can at least set out a “recommended” set of reported metrics.
